How does a student get started?
An adult needs to install CaRT on the computer, and then help the student with the directions for taking 3 computerized tests: a Spelling Test, a Listening Test, and a Naming Speed Test.
The scores on these tests will determine the student’s abilities, and the program will automatically start the student at the appropriate level.
How long will this take to administer?
CaRT will require about 3 minutes to install. Then, it will require about one hour to take the tests. Then, it is recommended that students spend 30-60 minutes a day (5 days a week) on the tutor. The student will work on the tutor independently and at their own pace. Constant adult assistance or supervision is not required.
Student progress is monitored monthly by our staff. An update on progress is sent to you by email.
What kind of computer system do I need to run this program?
CaRT requires an IBM compatible multimedia PC with CD-ROM disk drive, Windows 98 or later, internet access, and speakers or a headset.
What kind of results should I expect?
Users typically improve by 2 grade levels with 100 hours of instruction. We have seen students improve as much as 3-5 grade levels in one school year.
